Wetter is.... er.... better?

So today we woke up and this strange shining orb was in the sky. Yes, it was a beautiful sunny day! We had planned to hit the library with the Kwan boys but lo and behold there was sun! Second Beach called us and away we went! The kids did really well. Milo is so sweet! He is very careful and he was really good at reminding Maeve what is safe and what is not ie. it is not safe to go too far without "the" parents! Angela looks good and great and I had a fantastic day! Theo is a clever little boy with LOTS of words! Seems he may have a strong preference for things coloured blue and you can't fool hiim either, he knows what is blue and what isn't! We walked from our place on richards/robson up davie to english bay and then along the seawall. FANFRIGGINGTASTIC i LOVE vancouver!!! It was so great... the sea.. oh the glorious sea!!! the mountains.. oh everything was so nice! So sorry, i digress! Anyhoo, along our walk up davie Maeve was in heaven... there are rainbow banners all the way to english bay and PINK.. yes PINK bus stops and benches! Maeve was in heaven and Theo.. well, he may not have liked it so much! hahaha all in all a great day for me. The kids.. well, they seemed to have fun too!

Bubble Bubble

There have been some pretty cute bathtub movies going around so I thought we'd hop on the tub train! Here is our son Madigan.. ok ok, our daughter Madigan having a bath.

Today we went to the library, urban fare to pick up pork chops or chork pops as Maeve said, then we went to the park under the cambie st bridge and met up with Awake Angela with sleeping Milo and Theo. The Kwan D'eon boys fell asleep enroute to us! Neither of my girls napped this afternoon. After the long cold walk back to our apt, Maeve said she felt tired and needed a sleep. I put the timer on to let her sleep no more than a half hour! A half hour comes and goes and neither Michael nor I could wake the tired big girl. She'd wake briefly, talk to us then.. zzzzzz! I blame the jetlag! So, we just tucked her in for the night and are praying she doesn't decide that 2am is the new 7am! Hahaha. Since the Mussellam girls didn't really get to kick it with the Kwan D'Eon boys, we're going to attempt another rendezvous tomorrow. I think the library will be our destination if it is rainy again. What are the odds of it raining in vancouver two days in a row? Hahaha.. I'm happy to be back here, rain and all!

Well we can let it all hang out now

Hiya boys and girls, the cat is out of the bag... the jig is up... the whistle, well it has been blown... the Mussellam Family has very sneakily arrived back in Canada.

Lots of tears, a little anger, more tears and lots and lots of joy. We managed to surprise everyone with our sneak attack.

We arrived back in Vancouver Monday February 26 around 8ish. We took a few days at Granny Gracies to shake some jetlag and then on thursday Michael started work at his new company, "Action Pants Inc". Craig McEwen works at AP (as I call it) and Michael is thrilled to be back in the country! AP has us all set up in a 2 bedroom fully furnished apartment downtown Van about 2 blocks away from Michael's work. So, Michael is happy, I'm happy to be back in Canada and the girls are having a bit of trouble with sleep but are fantastic!

Right now we are in Nanaimo, we surprised the HELL outta the fam. We hid in the bedroom and let the girls come out to surprise Gramma Luvvy. Video to follow... everyone is over the MOON to have us back. We are equally happy to be back. England was great.. Vancouver is better!!! hahahahah

London part deux

Hallo boys and girls! Ok, so first let me let you in on a little secret. The picture I put up yesterday should have had a disclaimer. I looked horrid! Hahah the girls and Michael look great but I only look great because Michael moved a lamp to give the illusion of greatness!!! The first pic was TERRIBLE!!! HAAHAHAHAH there wont be any pics of me posted where I don't look "great" haha

so, yesterday we had no internet in the hotel room. Yes, we did purchase an internet voucher but for wahtever reason it hates our mac. So, that is why you didn't hear from us yesterday. the hotel 'wifi' still hates us and i am writing this courtesy of the internet cafe down the street. No pics my friends, so sorry. I'm really just supposed to be getting us tickets to go on the London Eye! I'm sneak blogging while Michael gets the girls down!! hahah awesome!

Today was fantastic, we were at the London Zoo with our friends Neil and Fil! The boys joined us this am and after we hit the worlds GREATEST comic show we saw all sorts of animals. Actually, in some cases we just saw where some animals should be but were mysteriously missing! After an awesome day at the zoo we met up with Fil's friend Leah and Sam and Andrew Lawson (ex mainframers) wE WENT to dinner at this place called 'Giraffe', What a way to cap the day.. it was fantastic and the girls loved it! It was really nice seeing Sam and Andrew, they look really great and really happy!

Well, this is where I leave you, if I don't come home with London Eye tickets Michael may kill me!!

haha big love peeps

My london london london

This is a picture of us in our hotel on the mac!
so we made it! Yesterday we caught a lift into LONDON! Can you say dingy? Our hotel is super clean and nice, only problem is there is NO BATHTUB! Yikes! Can't complain tho, we do have our own toilet! So, we settled into our hotel, grabbed a bite to eat and then walked around our hotel area a bit. Pretty busy little area. Lots of Middle Eastern restaurants and whatnot!

today we are taking the girls to the Natural History Museum. It is all about Dinosaurs right now. What they eat, how much they poop. Maeve says she doesn't want to touch the poop because it is stinky! hahahaha She cracks me up. Madigan doesn't walk anywhere anymore... she runs.... full tilt, full steam ahead and no looking back!

I'm almost tired of listening to my own voice telling them, don't touch the lights, don't play with the safe, stop mucking in the shower! ahahhahahahah oh well, its a 'holiday' right? Ya right! I don't expect to every have one of those for another few years!

Antics

Hello folks, here are our weekend antics thus far. Michael Neil, Fil and Laura went out binge drinking on friday. Michael left here around 7 and didn't make it home until 1am. Yes, in a land where everyone drinks, is drunk or is recovering from a drunk fest the pubs close at 12:30am! Cuckoo. I honestly wasn't expecting him til later and me and Maeve were snuggled up when he stumbled home! Michael doesn't get a chance to go out with his buddies very often so I guess I can let it slide every now and then! I actually stayed up and chatted on msn. I miss everyone alot and I'm glad when I can catch you on msn! Even if you are totally bogged down at work and really are to busy to chat with me!

So, saturday morning it was our usually pancake breakfast and then off into town. We met up with the usual weekend gang, Neil and Fil with the added bonus of Laura. Michael and Neil worked with Laura at Mainframe ages ago. So we all walked to Nicholas Park. Neil, Fil and Laura were going to continue on to Warick Castle while the girls got their play on. Neil and Fil were horrified because Madigan screamed for almost an hour. NOTHING was working for her. Not booby milk, not Mommy holding, not Daddy holding, not stroller bumping NOTHING. I finally managed to bring her off the ledge and calm her down enough to settle into a really short light nap. While she was, "napping" Maeve got a chance to ride on some of the kiddy park rides that aren't usually on. Maeve drove a helicopter, a pink barbie bug and a train! Michael rode the train but opted out of the pink helicopter and bug! They sat right up front and Maeve got to ring the bell. Sorry no pics of that, Michael had the camera!

After the girls got their play on we walked on to Warick Castle to meet up with Neil & co. The plan was if Madigan napped for longer than a half hour she might be decent enough for us all to go out for dinner together. Madigan DID nap for an hour and a bit so dinner was green lit! To recap, we walked from LSPa to Nicholas Park to Warwick Castle to Warwick to the saxon Mill then after dinner to Milverton. Needless to say I totally burned off the AWESOME salmon, coconut milk prawn & chili pasta! I had a really nice dinner out. I did have to take Madigan outside and have a talk with her. No children were beaten but she was driving me nearly up a wall! So after our talk she did much better. I think I have been treating her like a baby and letting her get away with stuff. Now I explain things simply and wont put up with her screaming. We are on this crazy learning path with her that we never had with Maeve! A C'est La vie!

So that is the end of my novel, our weekend antics I'll try to upload a vid of Madigan's sweet sweet temper tantrum! Here is a pic that i LOVE it was from last week when our friendly neighbourhood cat Leo broke in for a visit!

Happy Valentines Day

Happy Valentines day everyone!! Michael got the girls and I beautiful roses! Granny Gracie sent two big GORGEOUS cards!! Gramma Mimi sent the girls each an adorable card and our good buddy Milo sent the girls a card and a pink 'cutie' bracelet! That Milo has a bracelet for all occasions! Thanks so much everyone!! Today is pretty low key. Madigan was up ALL night. Every hour on the hour. She has been running a fever for the last 2 days. She has alot of drool so I was inclined to think it was teething related but.. its been going on for a bit and now seems a bit worse. I know that fevers are the bodies way of creating an inhospitable environment for bugs so I'm watching her really closely while she rides it out. Poor thing. It sucks being sick. So, we are just going to have a nice quiet dinner and maybe watch chitty chitty bang bang for the 10,000th time! Hope everyone's valentines day is better than ours!

Happy Birthday

Happy Birthday to Makenna Dawn Geeorgensmith!!! We wish we were going to be at Jumpin Jiminy's with you! Hope your day is just as fantasstic as you are! I really liked the cake you made for Mike. I hope your birthday cake is just as beautiful as the one you made!

Today we decorated cookies. Yes they are discount cookies, yes they are from xmas. Anyway, here is the deal. The girls were allowed to decorate their own cookie after eating dinner. Well Miss Angrypants Beatrice Mussellam was not having our usual, one more then no more rule. (Adopted from the very clever Reynolds family). So, she screamed.. she cried.. she drooled... then went without. Here is the pic of Maeve with her completed cookie. Here is a pic of Madigan crying (how unusual) and of the offending noodle! Hahahaha life is grand! All this tells me that my girls wont be pushovers when they grow up! Even when it is totally frustrating and she/they are screaming I have to turn my head and smile. I am so proud of my stubborn mule-ish children! They have the strong healthy and respectable stubborn traits in adults but sometimes not so much in children! So god love'em.. they drive me crazy but make me so proud!

Truly Scrumptious

Hey folks! Ok, for xmas Danica got the girls Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. Now, not sure if any of you remember but the movie is more than 3 hours long. Yes yes, there is an intermission but she wants to watch it after dinner before bed!! Hhaha there isn't usually 2 hours between the two but sometimes we try! So thanks to Dink for the dvd. Both girls love it. It has taken me roughly one WEEK to upload this!! We are seriously going to have to start paying for internet!!!

enjoy!

Yes, this makes me cry. My daughters are so fantastic! I love them, I do!

Sushi and a SnowBall?

Hello,
A lot of excitment around here this week. Vashti made awesome sushi and then it snowed. Hurray!

Ok, here's some pics:

In this first one Maeve and I were wandering around the wilds of the Midlands and I stopped to take her picture. You can imagine my surprise when I got the film back and there were these four "abominable snowmen" in the picture! I swear I didn't see them when I was taking the picture! Maeve was acting scared at the time, but I thought she just had gas. Oops.

Madigan wasn't impressed with my slick fathering skills either (I accidently left her at home surrounded by these glowy, floaty things):

Sheesh you just can't please girls nowadays. OK, enough about how rotten the kids are (I blame the toonie, yes the 2$ coin, for their naughty ways). Bah, onto more important things: food! Here's a sweet shot of the homemaid sushi!

Wait a minute, how did these girls get in the pictres again? Now that I think about it, I don't remember taking pictures of the girls at all...

Tuesday

Hello folks! Tuesday brings us snot, fever, the crankies and foul humour! Madigan has the snot and fever. I'm attributing the fever to teething as she has the added bonus of drool. She needs to be carried, or at the very least within eyesight or tears and anger! Maeve is doing really well. Her british accent is coming along marvellously! She says, "Clewwwwws" the gate. She says, Happy Berthday and many other britishisms that are so cute Michael and I just look at each other and giggle! Tonight is my pilates class with ERica. I'm really looking forward to tuesdays and thursdays! Our instructor is pretty cool. All in all its a pretty good class. I cannot believe tomorrow is wednesday. The days are flying past me it seems. Tomorrow is a pretty big day around here. We had to sign up for parent teacher conference!!! I'm so excited! Maybe this means I've officially grown up!! Haha I doubt it! The teachers at Maeve's school are fantastic. I really love her school, teachers and some of her classmates!!! Maeve's friend Tegan had a baby brother the other day. I asked Maeve what the baby's name was... she replied, "scooby dooby doo". After chatting with Tegan's daddy, this is in fact what Tegan wanted to name the baby! Fortunately his name is Flin, I think she'll call him scooby dooby doo for short!! hahah sorry no pics.. cam is poop and it is so crazy busy around here!

Random shots of cuteness today! The first shot is Madigan at this mornings duck feeding session. The next is Madigan in her new coat (same as Maeves but this time even cheaper!) lying with leo. Third pic is Madigan extreme closeup unflattering booger shot. Lastly is a really nice pic of Maeve because she is gorgeous.. but sort of strange because it is cut off at the eyes. On my phone it is a great shot! Suffer bitches!! It is friday and the girls are wrestling on the bed behind me as I post. They are so wonderful! I really have to thank George and Susan for Michael. Without him, I wouldn't have these gorgeous girls. I love you Michael Mussellam!

wednesday

Pictures of the girls on our chair train. Something I used to do as a child all the time. Whenever my mom would pull out all the chairs to clean we would line them up and choo choo choooooo. The pics are pretty funny. Maeve has great posture in one of them! Madigan just keeps on looking like Jason! Michael is really starting to question paternity!

Short post today because blogger has already eaten one... damn them and their lack of autosave! We are all good here. Seems like we might be on the mend from this killer cold. School was good. Madigan/Mommy time was great. Daddy got home and the girls are jumping on him. Ha ha.. Madigan is big on jumping. She plays with all her toys while saying, "jump jump jump". Tis very cute I tell ya! We are having a low key evening and I must go check my roasting chicken in the oven!

Today's eagle eye competition was won by a Miss Cookie Doucette. She very cleverly spotted the baking I was obviously bragging about in yesterday's post. Your 'prize' is in the mail! Hahha no its not! Good luck with first post today bitches!

Tuesday

Hey kids.. Michael and I are still sick. What the hell is this some sort of super bug? Anyhoo, we played a bit of hookie today! We made fairy cakes!

Oh and did a little pole dancing! hahahahahaha

Monday oh monday

Madigan in a basket and her Daddy. When she wears this outfit, given by my friend Melanie Fellers to Maeve, we call her little boy blue.

A most awesome brown jacket with a gorgeous girl full of balance and beautiosity!

Don't worry Mom there are no blue hairs actually trying to capture them.. they just adored the girls from afar. These are the toys at the Parish Church cafe.

Ok, so my craptastic couple of days are on their way out. Yesterday (sunday) we had a great family day. We didn't have to be anywhere at any time, we didn't have to 'do' anything! We did a little family spring cleaning and Michael and Maeve did an AWESOME job on the garden! I don't have any pics of it but trust me,they did great!

Today we dropped Maeve off at school and went to THE BIG CUP. Just a greasy spoon that sells cheap breakfast.... well, cheap breakfast was 2.20, cuppa tea was 1.20! Hmm, one was hot water one was a traditional english breaky with toast. I asked the lady for some jam for the toast and she stood for a moment before telling me, "jam is 25 p each". Bloody friggin hell...who has toast for breakfast with no jam? Cuckoo, cuckoo! After our awesome breakfast we went to the Sally Ann for our staynplay. It was really fun. Alot of the Mommies come over to talk to me! My friend Erica was there with her little boy Finn. There was a birthday party for Joe and Emma twins. Madigan got her first "fairy cake"! How exciting! Fairy cakes are really cupcakes but it does sound nicer to call them fairy cakes! After school we had lunch with ERica and then did a little ELC browsing.. we never buy anything in that store and the girls that work there are great! Off to tescos and then back home for co naps! Yahooooo co naps!! Wahoooooo! I got to read the paper AND the roast is in the oven! All I did was set it and forget it! hahah ok, its a brisket roast and it has to basically boil or it will taste like rubber!!!

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY

Hey kids! Big happy anniversary shout out to Auntie Sara and Uncle Brad. I totally jacked this picture from their friend's blog site! I'm big on swiping these days. I'm not good at remember my own anniversary so sorry it is late by a day! In my defense, Sara wasn't supposed to get married until later soooo... I get to be pissy because I never got to be bridesmaid! hahaha love you both very much and hope you had a wonderful anniversary

Friday, saturday

*disclaimer**ok, so thursday and friday were a bit tough for me. I've been cranky, miserable and shitty to everyone. Not nice, I know. I've been slowly dying of cold over here and lack of sleep because Madigan and Maeve are suffering too. Michael has had to stay late at work a couple of times and I've been miserable. I'm feeling a bit better now and just wanted everyone to know that life here is like life everywhere. Sometimes it is great and sometimes it sucks ass. I'm working on trying to stop feeling sorry for myself. Total work in progress!

So, here is what we did on friday. The girls and I went to church! the Parish Church at the bottom of the parade. We had a lovely lunch with, and served by the whitest of the white hairs and bluest of the blue hairs! Besides us there was no one in there u nder 80! We really brought down the average age in there! The wonderful thing was, it was a great inexpensive lunch and they had playthings for the girls. The ladies at the table next to us said the girls are just wonderful and so smart and well behaved! It is so nice when other people think they are marvellous! Other people that aren't related that is! hereare the girls on the toys, then infront of the gigantic church. Michael calls it the gothic church. it is huge and beautiful inside.

Saturday, today, we managed to get into town early enough to pick up some things at the farmers market. On this farmer's market I even picked up a little bit of knowledge that I shall pass unto you. Brussell sprouts look like this:

Pretty neat huh, who knew! We had a fantastic roast pork with applesauce and mustard.. YUM .. Michael liked the crackling part the best.. for those of you not in the know.. the crackling is charred fat.. mmmm yum yummy! We picked up some pork burgers and a brisket roast for sunday dinner! Not both for sunday of course! This is the first time in our life here that we've actually hit the market before they close down at 2!!! It is only once a month and we've never managed to attend! We got the girls some pinwheel biscuits (cookies) and a big ole cauliflower and went for coffee! We ran in to some folks from good old north america and chatted to them for a while before heading to the park.

Maeve got to wow us all with her awesome balance. Usually she needs to hold a hand as she walks along this fence. Today in her new gorgeous coat she did it by herself! She is wonderful! So is the coat! Chocolate brown with a super soft pink fleecey lining. How much you ask? Almost 40 pounds.. how much did I pay? 12!!!! What a bargain! I don't think we could have squeezed one more days worth of wearing out of her pink one. Sara bought it for Maeve 2 years ago!! It was fantastic and we love it and we used it to death! Now off into a box so Madigan can squeeze the life out of it too! Love you all oh and just for the record, this picture is what I actually look like... it is not a trick of the mirror. I am 5'8" and I weigh 120lbs!

Ok.. its the mirror in the gap where I got Maeve's jacket!!! hahaha also blogger is being a bitch and i can't upload the pics of the church the girls playing or the awesome jacket.. i'll try tomorrow!

Happy Birthday

January 25 was a pretty big day for a boy we know! His name is Milo and he is fantastic. Milo, his little brother Theo and his Mommy Ange read our blog every day.. or so they claim!!!! Soooo today in honour of Milo's 4th birthday, he gets to see himself! The Kwan D'eons are some great people who we miss dearly. They live in a fantastic loft downtown vancouver. They have the seawall, the beach ALL of vancouver's fantastic play places science world, the aquarium, stanley park etc... I am very jealous of them! I wish we were in vancouver so we could come to Milo's birthday part at the planetarium. Milo always has great parties! Last year we went to his party at Granville Island kids place. It was fantastic and Maeve got to paint herself a little ceramic airplane. Casey and Ange, you have fantastic kids and we miss them and you very much! We are lucky enough to be in the loop for the Kwan boys info circuit and that is where I ripped off this pic! So, happy birthday Milo, hope your birthday extravaganza is fantastico!

Thursday

Hello everyone. Still wondering where my mother is. wonder if she is even going to come back from Mexico. I can't say that I would!! We are all well and good. It is still really cold but also sunny and blue skies of gorgeousness! Michael has been coming home before 6 so that has been GREAT! Yesterday Madigan opened a picture album and kissed Michael's picture. It was so sweet. I'm glad he isnt working 11 hours overtime like he did last week. Its nice to have him around here. So.. todays pics are Maeve in the gazebo @ Mill gardens....Maeve and Madigan wait for the bus. In England you actually have to flag down your bus, EVEN if you take that same bus everyday and are standing directly under the sign. If you do not flag down the bus, it may or may not stop for you! Bizarre but fun, everday Maeve stands with her hand out to signal to our bus driver lady (in the am) and our bus driver dood (after school). It is tres cute and she even knows which one we take. it is the 67 for the record!

Wonderful Wednesday

Yes, minus one person this is what sleeping looks like in our house! Michael had a good chuckle this morning while us lazy ladies were sawing logs.

Today we had SNOW!!!!! It was such a surprise! Actually everyone in L Spa is 'gobsmacked'! It hasn't snowed that much (ok it was like 2 inches tops) in 20 odd years! Too funny! I took the first picture at 8:30am on our way to school and the second one was after school! It was a beautiful yet chilly brrrr kinda day! Madigan and I met up with Erica and Finn for late breakfast and cappucinos! Then it was off to find a cheap vase for some awesome tulips on sale! Mission accomplished! Tulips look fab in the kitchen!

Terrific Tuesday

Hello to you all! Today was GORGEOUS! Frickin' cold but GORGEOUS! Madigan and I dropped Maeve off at school and then headed off for second breakfast. Where you all ask? McDonalds of course, altho they do call it Mac Donalds here! Mommy needed a cheap coffee and Madigan had some "awesome" pancakes! Madigan had the entire restaurant in stitches. Everyone was oohing and ahhing over her! She is so funny! She was waving and yelling goodbye to anyone who walked past. They may or may not have been leaving, but they got a goodbye anyway! After the much needed coffee and pancakes we strolled down the parade. The parade is the "high street" which is the strip of shops in good ole L Spa. It was too cold to play in the early hours of the am so I let the beast loose on the royal priors (mall). Madigan had a blast ... and then as pictured a nice little temper tantrum... then had another blast. Some old guy was nearly beside himself trying to catch her attention so he and his wife could chat with her. I think Madigan had alot of fun being able to wander wherever she liked today!
We picked Maeve up from school and headed over to the veggie table. Veggie enchiladas all around. It was ok.. so not as good as the mexican in Cali tho! FAAAAR from! After lunching with pals we went to Mill Gardens to play. On our way over Maeve found an icy puddle on which she could skate! Too funny and too cute. Madigan seemed to have decided it was much to cold for her because after 2 mins in the sandbox she decided to scream! Maeve had fun riding that weird dog toy. A blast was had... NO co napping today.. booo and Madigan only napped for like a half hour.. double boo... oh well, early bed time to beat these bloody colds!

Oh and on a side note, can you say "LOOKS LIKE JASON MUCH?"

Monday, January 22, 2007

monday oh monday

Hello everyone! We last left you with a wonderful pic of baby Finn. We had a nice time watching him. He was a good baby. Not too fussy. I said to Michael, "maybe we should have another one". Well long story short we are going to be sticking with the two wonderful beings we have already created and shall create no more at this time! We are just getting out of the difficult stage (knock on wood). The girls are so fantastic. Maeve will do something nice for Madigan and Madigan will say, "thank you Maeve-y." It is so sweet. They do peeve each other off every now and then but for the most part they seem to love each other very much! Michael doesn't get any time on his own so baby #3 would put him in Michael time overdraft! I am getting a little time to myself these days and it is nice!
Today Madigan and I dropped Maeve off at school and it went like this, "see ya later skater". All that could be seen of Maeve was dust trails and a little blur in her wake! I thought that since we are still a little under the weather and the fact that Maeve didn't go to school on friday, she might be a little hesitant to go to school today... as usual, Vashti you are WRONG! I am so proud of that self confident little bugger! She is amazing, wait unti our time is up here and you get to meet her again. She is truly the most amazing little person. Madigan and I fed the geese, pigeons and swans today. It was GORGEOUS.. but bloody cold! Ok ok, not -27 like Auntie Sara is getting hit with but pretty cold!! After the bird fest we were off to "little angels" play school. I am now happy to admit I have a wonderful circle of friends! When we first started there I was a bit of an outsider and all these other Mommies were super tight knit. Well now I am a part of it and it feels great! There are lots of wonderful women with equally wonderful children! I think Madigan has fun at preschool, she loves getting chased around by one of the Mommies. Her name is Helena and she invited us round to her place next week! After a long day of playing at school, both girls co napped again! I think part of what we used to be missing around here was a routine. now that we have one I kick myself for not instituting it earlier! Michael is going to be home on time instead of staying late like he has since starting b ack after xmas. I can't wait! I love the way the girls greet their Daddy at the door! What a wonderful family I have!
