thought I would blog about our exciting adventure. Michael took a, yes a singular, picture of the event. We went to Kits rink and took the girls "skating". I haven't worn skates since I was 4 months pregnant with Maeve. Turns out the joys of pregnancy don't end with hemorrhoids, fat asses/guts and saggy boobs. The joy continues and expands (literally) to our feet! My feet have gained an entire size lengthwise and are even more Barney Rubble-ish than before. It sure is fair being of the fairer sex! So here is my fat ass, fat gut, toight rack (post op) and a portion of my gigantic barney rubbles squeezed into my old hockey skates! Ahhh Michael must just LOVE the returns on his investment made nigh 16 years ago!
At least the girls look adorable! They seemed to have "fun". Fun= Less tears than I expected! Madigan was pretty brave about the whole event and Maeve took some loops around the ice with Daddy! I'm tossing the idea of joining a beginner woman's league to see if I can't undo some of this pregnancy damage!

too bad you don't live closer, or vice versa as I'd join a league with you. Mom's gonna shit when she reads this because she JUST told me last night that your feet go up a half shoe size with each pregnancy, you just proved her right, as does the blister on my left foot and sore toes.
You look great Vash, your kids are amazing and Michael, more than one pic would be nice to go by.
To be honest, and this is gonna sound horrid but I didnt even notice you were in the picture until you mentioned it. Dark clothing makes you invisible.
...as does having cute kids....you vanish, I've learned.
We did the same thing last Jan. It was fun. Yes, The minute you step on the ice, it is a moment of clarity "Yes, now, I rememeber why I haven't skated in 20 years" It make your feet hurt your arches hurt, maybe that is just white figure skates rented from the arena but, After 4 laps of the ice, I felt like a star. We had some skates given to us for the girls and I bought a pair for myself after a few times and since then, haven't gone once. Hope you are all doing well. I think I am inspired to go skating. Not sure hockey will shrink your feet.. but may be useful to let out any parenting frustrations!

I think I was thinking of joining hockey to shrink my ass not my feet!!
i'll accept wishful thinking on the feet shrinking tho!

VASHTI ANNIE! THIS IS ME YELLING AT YOU! Stop with the putting yourself down! you are beautiful and amazing, and have given LIFE to two incredible daughters...there that is my rant, but truly, we are all so hard on ourselves, yet we have healthy bodies that take us skating, and swimming, and hiking..ok you get my drift! you are lovely...take it from an older (much!) woman, you will look at these pictures one day and say "dang I was smokin! wish I had enjoyed it more!!
