In all seriousness...

Hello there, it's Michael.

Vashti doesn't preach on this blog, but hell, it's my blog too. Sometimes we all need to stop and have a look around at what we're doing to the planet. Oh stop rolling your eyes, all I'm asking is you watch this and have a think. Nothing else.

If you need something to think about, think of our children.

That ends my contribution to the blog. See you in a few months. Hugs.

I had already viewed this because of some online discussion.
Sure makes you stop and think.
I'm trying very hard to consume less plastic - and recycle every little bit.
Downsizing is a great idea.

yep.. keep it out of the plastic vortex! It is really terrible.. we have heaps of plastic princess, dora, polly pocket, pony, fisher price, playschool... and we are just one family... think about that... ughh We just had Haidyn's birthday and tried to avoid plastic.. it is not that easy.. but it was our goal.

thanks for being concerned my friend!!

I have also already seen this. IT really does make you think. Now, when I look at new things I think, Do I really need it and does it need to be put in all that plasic just to sell it. There is apparently another movie that has a similar point. It is all about how everything is made in China, and most things come out of this one Yellow factory, That is how someone explained it to me.
I think there is a lesson to be learned.

That was fantastic. Thanks for sharing Moose.
I'll have to post it over on CVK. We make a serious effort around here to de-plastic, stop wasting and think. But, damn that plastic is brutal.

No eye rolling here Michael! I will be making more of an effort to stop the incessant buying of 'toys' for the grandbabies (and perhaps for myself)...I agree that if we don't make a stand somewhere that plastic will take over our world. I am increasingly horrified at the amount of plastic that these same toys are imprisoned in.
Humbly yours,
mama
thanks for the inciteful video!

dude. you just rocked my consumer-driven world! last night i was looking online for shops that stayed open past 6 pm as i wanted to go shopping for andy's b-day. all the stores here closed at 6 pm and i ignorantly scoffed and thought..."jeez, in america you can shop round the clock, it is a way of life". then i happened upon your blog and realized i am a big part of the problem, that i am brain-washed into loving shopping and that it is actually a blessing that canada isn't as shopping-obsessed as where i come from...thanks for the 2'x 4' across the forehead michael, i needed that.

I just heard about a woman here who had a 'toonie' birthday for her daughter, and I thought it was a great idea. Everyone brought $2.00 for the child, who would buy herself a gift,(reasonable and not overwhelming) and $2.00 to donate to the local playground! Wouldn't it be nice, and good for all if we did something like that for all of the B day parties? It can be the little things that count, so thanks Michael! we could all do better..Jacqui
